Our Heritage
On June 27, 1851, seven faithful individuals formed the Freewill Baptist Society of Rockland, laying the foundation for what would become a lasting ministry on the Maine coast.
The original church building was dedicated on January 13, 1853. This historic structure still stands on Camden Street, within sight of our present facility, a testament to God's faithfulness through generations.
The church was renamed to honor its first pastor, Rev. W. H. Littlefield, who faithfully served from 1852-1859. His legacy of dedicated ministry continues to inspire our congregation today.
In February 1965, the church purchased 11 acres of beautiful shorefront property. Six years of faith and work culminated in the first worship service in our present brick facility on Mother's Day, 1971.
On Mother's Day 1996, we broke ground for the Henderson Memorial Wing, home to Pen Bay Christian School. Dedicated on November 10, 1996, this expansion reflects our commitment to Christian education and future generations.
Our Foundations
We believe in...
The Triune God: the Father; the Son, Jesus Christ; and the Holy Spirit.
The Bible, God's only message to man, inspired by the Holy Spirit, free from error.
Jesus Christ, God's Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
The substitutionary atonement for sin, through Christ; salvation through faith in Him alone.
The bodily resurrection of Christ from the dead, thus conquering spiritual death for all believers.
The imminent and personal return of Jesus Christ.
